This is a two-part workshop.  The first part is from 10am-11:30am at Samy's Camera.  The second part is from 1pm-4pm and will take place at the Polk Street Blues Festival. In a series of talks on Street Photography, Scott Globus will present a curated collection of images from great masters of street photography with the goal of stimulating creative exploration, appreciation and depiction of our social landscape. Strategy, Process, Place and Choice of Subjects. Breaking down barriers and making connections on the street. Technical issues such as choice of camera & lens, zone focusing and exposure. Composition, Intentionality and Dynamic Framing. Discovering meaning inside the frame. Editing, Sequencing and Presenting. Describing the world and creating your own narrative. Example photographers to be included in the revolving slide deck: Garry Winogrand, Lee Friedlander, Diane Arbus, Chauncey Hare, Catherine Wagner, Walker Evans, Dorthea Lange, Alex Webb & Rebecca Norris Webb, August Sander, Weegee, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Avedon, Sebastian Selgado, Bruce Gilden, Vivian Maier, Josef Koudelka, Danny Lyons and of course, Robert Frank, and many others. Scott will also have time for several participants in each meeting to share 5-10 of their images (please bring them on a thumb drive.)
